Is there a best of 2019 nugs playlist? I am on the verge of custying back up for nugs and this would give me another reason to do it.
This one is only updated through July. I’m not sure who made this (probably @cshore) and there may be a more complete one but this is a good start.

Honestly tho the Robot World, while great, is like the fourth best version of 2019 tho.
Need to relisten to August but I’m pretty sure I like the Deeper better just because that type of jam is more my style. I remember loving Fir too I gotta relisten to that.
I rec’d that 8/3 August yesterday, maybe in a different thread? I think it’s my fave jam of that night but it’s hard, both Deeper and Fir are good.
Last year I was adamant 8/15 Plungie>2/15 Plungie, but after relistening to 8/15 the other day I may have cooled off on that… it’s still top 5 of the year but even though it’s A+ on focused adventurousness, only the ending section gets into full bore FUCK YES territory for me

Yup. Huge attendance bias on that one. Been really struggling with doing a top 5 because I want that one in there.
Also just love the vibes of early 2019. Richmond OB, 2nd 1/25 HBB jam, 1/31 Robot World, 2/15 Plungie all have super dark, weird improv. I fucking eat that shit up.

wouldn’t disagree, but i love the chaotic chug chug jam in this one with Joel just laying into the keys. are there other versions with similar improv style? would love recs.
Hmm. I need to relisten to the big 16 minute Robot from later in the year as I don’t remember it too well but I remember not being floored by it. I agree with @ApostropheTH where the style of the jam on 1/31 really sells me on it.

IMO that dark vibe runs through just about the entire year, although I agree it’s a little more concentrated in January-April.
3/1 AIT is so good. I love how the first half of the jam is so triumphant and then suddenly you’re being smacked in the face with the dark shit
This is exactly why I love 2019 UM so much. There really isn’t another time in UMs catalog that has such a perfect blend of texture as jams like these do. Everyone is sitting so perfectly together. 2011 has that to an extent but in a much different setting IMO. Here, they’re breaking completely uncharted ground while executing it near perfectly.
