Decided to toss this one on this morning after hearing another song from that same era and missing that specific Jake tone.

I fucking love this show.

It was SO goddamn cold. Walking from my fraternity to the show, I saw at least 5 people fall on ice lmao. If you’re not familiar with State College, it’s basically two small hills with a valley in the center of town - campus on one hill, downtown on the other. Perfect for people biffing it going downhill.

First set is perfect old school shit. Alex’s House, Synco, Tribute > WMM is what dreams are made of. Good jams in there. Oh and Cold Smoke sans lyrics. The WWS was turbo shit at the end which was bananas. My one buddy at his first show was blown away at setbreak.

Second set is nothing like crazy in terms of originals, but fun nonetheless. Crooked One rips as always, bunch of fun covers including Gig. Kimble to end S2 is cool, and Liquid never gets played anymore. Plus Night Nurse before it was called Night Nurse.

“What day is today Wednesday? You guys are fucking crazy this is awesome. We should come back here with a little more frequency than we do” - BB. They only came back 2 more times the next two years and haven’t since. Not a lot of good options for them in State College, but now that they’ve downgraded venue sizes maybe they can return to a 550 person venue in the middle of PA. One can hope.

I fucking love this show. It’s a little like a comfort show because of how many times I’ve listened to it over the years. It just makes me feel good. I think that’s probably my rose colored glasses from that being college for me, being at the height of my fandom, and just generally being young and invincible.

Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk.

Wow this WWS jam is wild! Good old fashioned, down home UM. Kinda reminds me of the 9/14/08 Tribute jam (first section)

Great rec, really enjoy this first set.

Had no idea you went to State!

Yessir. Both parents, both sisters, two aunts, brother-in-laws all went there, and I met my wife there. To say it runs deep in my family is an understatement. That town was college to me growing up.

Told my dad I wanted to be a buckeye as a prank. His face was so distraught for a second lol
