Des Moines 6-26-15 (Up there with the Anaheim show)
Grand Rapids 10-25-14 (Heater and best crowd)
Ravinia 7-25-14 (Ate some goodies and lost my shit hearing Mantis for the 1st time *this was my second show ever)

No way I can figure out a proper list without much deeper thinking involved, but can throw out a handful that stand out big time.

First proper show was 12/1/2001, but had seen them open for my buddy’s band in ‘99 & was camped in Dead Creek campground after Phish in ‘99 & ‘00. I count those shows, but the ‘01 Barrymore was my 1st ‘true’ UM show. I’m now in the 220ish range, with 2/2/2017 being my 200th. If I had to choose 5 shows, it would likely be the ones with the (*) notation.

12/31/2001 - Vic Theatre, Chicago
3/23/2002* - Shank Hall, Milwaukee
10/5/2002 - Barrymore, Madison
11/26/2003 - The Rave/Eagles, Milwaukee
5/27/2004* - Shank Hall, Milwaukee
3/26/2005 - Riviera Theater, Chicago
4/16/2005 - The Rave/Eagles, Milwaukee
5/7/2005 - Great American Music Hall, San Francisco
7/6/2005 - Summerfest, Milwaukee
2/10/2006* - The Rave/Eagles, Milwaukee
9/7/2006 - Intersection, Grand Rapids
11/2/2006* - Barrymore, Madison
11/4/2006* - The Rave/Eagles, Milwaukee
3/22/2007 - Orpheum, Madison
7/5/2007 - Summerfest, Milwaukee
7/13/2007 - Ogden, Denver
8/31/2007 - Robert J Fishgrund Center, South Bend
9/13/2007 - Orpheum, Madison (my 100th)
9/14/2007 - Canopy Club, Urbana
12/1/2007 - Michigan Theater, Ann Arbor
2/27/2008 - People’s, Des Moines
2/28/2008 - Capitol Theatre, Davenport
5/23/2008 - Summer Camp
11/5/2011 - The Rave/Eagles, Milwaukee
2/19/2012 - Canopy Club, Urbana
4/28/2012 - Martyr’s, Chicago
1/28/2016 - Orpheum, Madison
7/2/2016 - Red Rocks

Keep editing, because I can’t believe I forgot to add things like 4/28/2012, 9/7/2006, etc…

The first 4 UMbowls should each definitely be listed as well.

Totally read that at first as “Skank Hall”

Off the top of my head I’ll just throw out a few standouts

3/02/2019 Wiltern Los Angeles I don’t know if I’ve raged harder at an UM show. Randomly got my neighbor from elementary school who I hadn’t seen in 15 years to hit that show.

3/15/2014 Wiltern Los Angeles 2nd show and 1st good show. Caught 3/14 for my first show but it was a disaster even though I had fun.

12/27/2019 for me this was the best show of that run. Caught Ninja and Muff 2. Bought a ticket for the afterparty but ended up in my buddy’s basement fluffing the show till 4am instead. His wife was pleased.

Can we add some total (WY) Show Counts to these lists?

I super enjoyed 3/1/19.

Yeah the AiT is def a top 10 jam from last year, idgaf what HOF says.

But the 3/2 show is better imo. That NN>WMM>Blecho segment is nasty

We missed 3/1 but my buddy and I argue over which was better. Both some good shows.

This show is so much fun. No real huge standout jams, but the energy is ridiculous that night. Still listen to this show quite a bit. Kinda flies under the radar too @Madhatter

I was at that 2019 wiltern show. Wish I didn’t get so drunk, the only thing I remember is the hotdog I got from the little old Mexican lady out front of the venue after the show. It was so dank.

We fucked up and got the worst pizza in LA after walking by those glorious smells. @plantseedlight

Kettlehouse 8/3 is an amazing show. I loved that trip. Caught 20 trout that morning and then an umphreys show at night? Perfection.

Gabby Lala playing setbreak into that sitar sit-in dance party to open the 2nd set was mind blowing. Never danced so hard in my life. Her set almost caused me to have a complete meltdown on a headfull. At one point I had to run outside to escape. Then that jam set the tone for an amazing 100 minute 2nd set. The Ringo and Jajunk peak so hard. One of my friends said Jake was throwing electric daggers at him during the Junk solo.

Damn, I wish the OG bort was around. I wrote a long review of this show. I was living in NOLA at the time, so getting to walk home after the show at 8am was awesome.

Indeed it was!

I’m sure I’ll step away and remember some other standout show but this is what I’m going with for now:

3/24/2007 - First Avenue - Minneapolis, MN
End of a fire 3-night run. Turbo Padgett’s gets super dirty, lounge Puppet during Junk, entire 2nd set

7/19/2007 - 10,000 Lakes Festival - Detroit Lakes, MN
Show has been fluffed plenty, enough said

4/24/2010 - Lincoln Hall - Chicago, IL
UM Bowl I

7/1/2011 - Simon Estes Amphitheater - Des Moines, IA
Fire Tribute, AIT, and Bottom Half, Embassy Suites as backdrop to venue

12/28-12/30/2013 - Fillmore Auditorium - Denver, CO
I can’t pick one of the 3, they each standout in their own way: 28 due to the fire Junk and Triple Wide, 29 due to IIRC fire Virtue and 2nd set, 30 due to experience, looseness of improv, 2nd set, and lots of drinking

Honorable Mentions:

3/12/2010 - First Avenue - Minneapolis, MN
Spires, Haji > Glory > Haji, a quite good HBB (considering the year), and a relentless 2nd set, plus great hangs with college bros during the show and post-show

9/14/2012 - Red Rocks - Morrison, CO
AIT, Puppet, OB

Was going to go to 7/1/11 but my then-girlfriend wanted to run a 5K instead the next day. Still salty about missing that show. The blistering opening run of Rocker II, Water, Tribute -> Synco, Walkin on the Moon…the best AIT ever, sublime Rhodesy funk of Bottom 1/2. Such a fire show.
