Fairly new fan here…Would love to hear about some underrated shows from 2011 to check out. Been going through the UM NUGS catalog and reading up on what to explore on this great site.
2011 has really jumped out at me. I’ve read about and listened to many of the well known shows (1/27, 11/2, etc.)
How about those “in the know” hitting me with some underrated shows to check out from this great year?
9/14 -16 is a great run. 14th has acoustic Kabump and amazing Visions > qbert, 15th is an all around really good show, and 16th has the GOAT Wappy (IMO)
09/22/11 is a good one. My first show, the N2F is an all-timer & popped up again in the umbowl stew “Fly Like a Beegle”. The jams in CWII, ITK & 1348 are all solid too. Abacab in the encore slot. Definitely worth a spin.
7/14/11 is a great show that I think flies under the radar because it was quite a random mid-summer pit stop in New England at a venue they never played before or since. The Much Obliged is up there with the best versions of all time and the Crooked has a great jam. I find the Ringo sammie to be very fun as well and the CW2 rips hard with a big peak.
10/20/11 - Bloomington, IN
12/29/11 - St, Louis, MO
03/08/11 - Billings, MT
07/01/11 - Des Moines, IA
01/30/11 - Baltimore, MD
02/03/11 - Lexington, KY
02/05/11 - Detroit, MI
03/10/11 - Boise, ID
03/17/11 - West Hollywood, CA
I would not call all of these “underrated,” but these are all great shows that I had not noticed in the thread
If this show gets played at RR, it woulda been fluffed to no end. Instead, it was played in a tiny club in Bloomington and never quite got the love it deserves, IMO.
That Des Moines show smokes from top to bottom, as is the case with many shows in that fine city. The Bottom Half, All in Time, Rocker II, and Tribute are all monsters. The fireworks during Walking on the Moon put it way over the top.
This show is amazing. I’m not as well informed about 2011 as I used to be, but this is definitely in my go to UM 2011 along with 1/27 11/2 7/1 and 5/27
