Hounds has really grown on me since I learned what his vision for it was. The idea of “taking back church music” really resonates with me. That said, it’s just not as good as any of his other albums. I think he was way inside his own head during BLM/quarantine, and the back-to-back concept albums of Violent History followed by this felt really claustrophobic. Glad this next album is more of a collection of songs.
