Stevie Wonder

Been listening to a lot of 70s Stevie recently. Figured I’d post this per the discussion in the Steely Dan thread

Arguably most influential pop artist of all time?

Talking Book > Innervision > Fulfillingness > Songs in the Key of Life stretch of LPs is perfection.

for sure. just look at a list of artists who have covered a Stevie tune. it’s really, really long and very diverse.

Stevie Wonder might be my favorite artist of all time.

The only time I saw him was in The Bay Area. He played the entire Songs in The Key of Life album and Dave Chappelle sat in on tambourine during the encore

Easily the best stretch of records of all time. Not really anyone close imo

Facts. I can’t imagine what it was like to be around during those releases. That’s like almost a decade of historic albums.

And he played pretty much every instrument on most of them

Yeah that’s just insane. He truly is one of the greatest musicians and songwriters in the history of the world. I hope he’s been bubble wrapped all of 2020, I really hope to see him again before he passes.

Great thread. My wife and I were listening to Stevie on the way up to the mountain yesterday and she says, “Stevie, he broke the mold.”
