Random, Spontaneous Thoughts about UM (Part Poo)

Word. The last time I saw Gary was the last time I saw you I think, late night in Detroit in at the Holiday Inn in 2017.

But did you go to that afterparty (that BAU played) with a nitrous bar?

Yep, i remember that.

Was bummed i missed the BAU late night. Made the mistake of going back to hotel after I left the Fillmore and ended up passing out while i killed time. Heard it was a pretty legendary evening.

I was there. I stayed until close and was doing lines of ketamine off my friend’s copy of American Psycho that Danny returned to me at the late night which I had left in Gary’s hotel room after my friend’s wedding nearly two years prior which I then preceded to leave there. I ended up helping them break the DJ equipment down as we continued to huff more balloons. Then I went back to @iamkickinit 's buddy Brian’s place and did more nitrous off whippits with him, his other friend, and the chick selling tacos at the late night that tried to hook up with me. I’m pretty sure I still have the flyers for that late night in my basement somewhere. Maybe I’ll dig them up later when I’m looking for more internet validation and will post ITT to hopefully garner 10 or more hearts to earn another nice reply bade.

It’d def be fam if ATU utilized a song breakdown like @NikoEstevan does.

UM should pay @NikoEstevan big bucks just to occasionally tinker or add some stats. Dude’s the best.

My ā€œdreamā€ with the listening guides was for it to be incorporated into ATU in a crowd sourced way where anyone could make a guide for a show. Almost like guitar tabs…anyone can submit for anything and whatever’s most accurate gets voted to the top

Why is that in the past tense? Keep dreaming, dreamer!

Not sure if I’d ever go back to making the listening guides tbh. It really started to feel like a part time job at a certain point. Probably spent over 300hrs on it, not even counting year end summaries or time spent making the excel sheet work. It was a fun pandemic project that kept me occupied.

But I do always like having some sort of project going on here, like the song tier thing going on now (and wrapping up around end November probably) and previously the dash bortman adventure.

Who knows, maybe after the tier list project wraps I’ll work on a 2nd dash bortman rpg/cyoa

Tonight’s 2nd set looks $$$, 5 songs with an unjammed Floor. Hope the Escape Goat delivers, great to see ā€œ(long)ā€ on back-to-back setlists. Playing extremely well since summer started.

Haven’t been to Bozeman but the Missoula shows I saw in 2017 had really rowdy crowds, probably a party tonight.

Damn, they actually wrote a 5 song set and didn’t cut songs. Also, kind of lame they had to note ā€œlongā€ but I also hope this 2nd set crushed. Per Tweet times, looks like a 25+ min DBK and 20+ min Escape JOTY. Yes please.

Seconded. Thanks for what you did (and hopefully do in the future for dank shows) @NikoEstevan

Second set last night. Very excited to listen to this Goat

It really does seem that DUMB tour rubbed off on them in a good way

I know people like to complain about DBK being a set eater at times, but I for one absolutely love a big standalone DBK. I also miss the days where they’d use it as a tool to weave in & out of during a large chunk of a set. I feel like that is becoming more & more rare all the time as well.

Agreed. If it’s a good 20+ minutes I’m game for it at any show

Uh-oh, is this feeling I’m feeling a twinge of excitement for next West Coast tour?
