Oh and those Midwest 2020 shows lolol
Clearly theyāve made a lasting impression the past couple years
I hear where youre coming from but ill remember those shows just bc they were the first drive in shows and at that point people were even still wondering wtf a drive in show even really was/looked like.
Pretty sure we all had moments during the slower parts of Divisions/AiT looking around and bein like ādamn this is all really heavyā
So I totally agree that they were forgettable shows, musically. But, man, what a surreal zeitgeist experience though. In all seriousness, ill prolly always remember at least the first night of those first drive in shows
I hated everything about that experience. Honestly wouldāve rather not gone
I loved drive in shows. Bring the party to your spot.
I enjoyed the drive in shows, in the sense I loved having space and bringing your own booze in. Wish the shows were better, but I teared up a few times. My first billy show was a drive in and was incredible
I liked the first couple I went to but it got old fast. Having to make sure you have a sober driver, being way further back from the stage, and feeling completely removed from the band and crowd really sucked the life out of a show. BYOB was cool but still not really worth it
It was probably because we had a great pod location but I loved my experience in Pontiac. Loved ordering bags of beer from my phone. N1 was a good show. N2 was bunk. Still not as sour on that experience as some are.
agh i feel like we were talking after those shows and you said you had heavy moments during Divisions/AiT too.
maybe that was just @gatroeās bitch ass
I think doing the billy pod shows in Louisville really soured the experience for me. The venue was 1000x better, it was right on the riverfront, with a great view of the bridges and downtown Louisville, we had a hotel a half a block away and had far better pod locations. Pontiac is a PiTA to get to, the weather was awful, our pod location sucked, and the venue was just a shitty pothole filled parking lot. It left a bad taste in my mouth and I think it distracted me from being able to just enjoy the music/experience. Stoked for Detroit tho, even if the shows suck I still always have a blast, plus the filmore is probably the best venue in Michigan (aside from The Fox but not many bands plays there).
All fair. I get it. Fillmore is the best. Stoked for that run.
I had a brief moment during 1348, but was more of a āIām happy to be back at musicā sorta thing that I get after not seeing a band for a while. Pretty sure I was majorly jaded already by the time divisions came around
My last UM shows were Asheville 2020. Barring anything unexpected, I should be ending the break with the Raleigh show, followed by Asheville again.
Other than pod and drive ins, same. Might do headphones again.
I flew out only for N2. Stuck in section C and the wind destroyed the sound in that shit hole parking lot
Best part of that show was Big Something opening, and getting free tickets before I bought mine by some guy who probably saw the setlist and decided to bail.
i have extremely fond memories of night 1 of the 2020 drive inn show and it has absolutely nothing to do with the boring ass set they played.
Or are they not doing this?
oh yeah I remember that. I feel like this somehow benefited me somehow too lol
I think I either gave you or Becca the freebie. Canāt remember.
