Random, Spontaneous Thoughts about UM (Part Poo)

What did Cosby sweater rename themselves to again? What a bad career move that was.

This wouldn’t even get me to talk to him and I’m a sucker for free cocaine.

Lawrence taking the headphones and snowcones idea to the next level. Would be cool for UM to add this functionality….

Holy shit that’s cool

Elton John has been doing that for like 4 years iirc. Pretty sure there’s a whole app/platform for it. I think a bunch of venues have started doing something similar to the headphones thing. Red rocks does it now.

Cool idea though. Been wanting to try it out.

Had one at one point. Probs around somewhere.

Had it hanging on the back of my rear view mirror for years, completely forgot about it. The sun did its job on it.

Catching up on UM from the last month this week and just noticed 11/13/21 2nd set (Pageant N2) has no stops whatsoever. No prolonged ambient segues either, though there are a couple of 5 second chord holds. Just 70+ minutes of music. This seems fairly unprecedented to me; can anyone else think of any UM sets like this?

I haven’t listened to the last few shows but the 2-3 min ambient >’s have been their MO this year which have been pretty frustrating tbh. I’ll have to check this one out

Anyone have some good recommendations for best versions of deeper?

I’m not sure about older versions but I loved the one from 8/3/19. Feel like it was an overlooked jam at the time

12/18/12 stands above the rest IMO.

8/16/13 is my 2nd favorite

There’s a really one from Vermont fall 2012 I think

Everyone has their own thing that annoys them about UM but this is my #1

Does the actual segue bother you or is it how they write it on the setlist?

It annoys me that it gets annotated as a “>”
It annoys me when I’m listening to a recording because there’s +2m of empty droning at the end of the song/jam.

Yeah they’ve really leaned hard into the ambient segues and it’s pretty lazy IMO. Every once in a while they used to turn out a really interesting ambient segue/end of jam (see 10/29/14 Plunger) but it’s become too common
