No, it’s a premium channel. The Yankees, Dodgers, and Cubs all have their own stations that are owned by the teams. It produces absolutely insane amounts of revenue over time, which is part of the reason those clubs spend like they do.
So yea, the anger is that not only did they get rid of the free coverage on WGN they had for years, but then they got rid of games on NBC Sports Chicago (bally level, etc) with the assumption that added money would go to improving the team, but instead the Ricketts gutted the team and spent an entire two years crying about how poor they were and “biblical loses,” while still being insanely rich and having the racist grandpa (not an owner but still) have Trump fundraiser at Wrigley.
Now not only does team suck, but a ton of fans can’t watch because some providers don’t want to carry Marquee. Plus ticket prices for games keep going up so you can’t really go see them all the time either unless you’re KB.
