DBK and Plunger were the highlights to me. Loved how funky DBK got and Plunger felt almost like Middle Eastern techno or something. Super cool sound if I’m remembering correctly.

Just following up for any of those following this story closely. The dude spun virtually non-stop (and I’m talking about 50-60 RPM) in the same direction for the entire second set up until Fir. He took probably 3 breaks for a minute or so, but then would rev slowly back up from about 10 RPM back up to that 50-60 range.

I can honestly say that in all my years of festivals and concerts (and drugs), I’ve never seen anything quite like this. Ive seen ā€˜spun out’ many times, but this was a whole new level. The Wookie costume and BK hat really brought it over the top.

For reference, I got a discreet video of him doing this thing (plus a bonus great view of a largely empty section of parking lot and an entirely unobstructed view of the stage). He’s pretty hard to miss.

Honestly the video screen issues in the first set and his great performance in the second were almost as entertaining as the show itself, which is saying something, because I had a blast last night. Really contributed to the overall experience of Detroit-iac.

Lmao that’s Al, he’s a local wook legend. Knew him pretty well when we both lived in lansing. Now he just spins in circles and is sober af.

First real crowd I’ve stand in since COViD last night. It felt really good being in a pit at a show again.

Lol you’re kidding me. Mad respect, thought for sure the dude was on another planet. He was even making me dizzy but he just kept powering through. And never changed directions a single time.

We were legitimately appreciating his dedication and we started goofing that his spin speed was dictated by how fire the jams were.

He def wasn’t always sober, I think he got spun af and just started spinning one day, because the spinning thing is a fairly new development (at least over the last 5 years or so).

Check out @thesenatoor on IG, he went wook famous after being posted on the wook hunters page a bunch of times

He’s a regular at Summercamp. Saw him spinning at my first scamp in 2015 and every one since. Never gets old watching him do that.

Usually wears a cape though, which makes it all that more entertaining to watch.

That’s the guy at all the bluegrass shows right?

I’m so hyped on UM right now. After last year I never would have expected to have 7 kangfirmed shows this year. Expecting more to be added too…

Life is good. UM is actually good.

Yeah but the dark years are actually the goat years when you’re a filthy noob during the dark years.

I’m just glad the snapfam didn’t know me back in 2012 when I jumped for joy and screamed like a girl when they played WWS in Portland.

The good thing about Detroit is at the absolute worst the DJs will be mediocre. Going and seeing DJs in other cities can be like seeing a wedding DJ play for 200 people.

Just bumped into Jake in the elevator at The Westin. Does this mean he and I are best friends now?

Actual photo proof because I’m a better person than Sultan. Also, forgive the peace sign - Jake threw his up and I panicked and matched it because I am not a picture person at all.
