I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about the Paul Simon song “I know what I know”
Its pretty funny. The first verse is her coming up to him and thinking he’s “just okay”… Not a catch of a man… Making petty cheap conversation with no depth and weight
In the second verse she tries makes a comment to Paul that doesn’t make sense, and he realizes she isn’t that much of a catch when she misses the mark trying to recycle his phrase " who am I to blow against the wind ?"
Third verse is the culmination of it all. He makes a joke about her intelligence, and she leans back in to her weakass chit chat. Then in super apt simon fashion, “who am I to blow against the wind?”

Paul is my fav songwriter, Graceland in my top 3 albums with Animals and Lateralus.

I always think of that line when I see/hear that song. My buddy had to explain it to me like I was five, I just didn’t get it.
Now we the American working population
