Got some great seats for the Denver show! So excited for this, what an insane lineup.
Never been a huge Steve Vai guy, but I’m excited to see how does with Fripp’s parts. Love Belew and Levin, and I’ve seen them both a bunch of times. The most exciting part for me though is definitely Danny Carey. Never seen him do anything besides Tool. And I’m normally much further back at those shows too, so I can’t wait to get a better view of him.
I consider KC to be one of my favorite bands and I’ve listened to countless hours of them, but I admittedly never really got into Beat and Three of a Perfect Pair very much. I definitely need to get more familiar with these albums before the show.
Steve Vai has an unbelievable amount of amazing technical stuff, but I’ve always loved his early stuff w/FZ. I remember Frank saying something along the lines of that he would write stuff for SV that he’d have trouble playing himself & Zappa was an amazing guitarist.
Frank Zappa (guitar, lead vocals)
Ray White (rhythm guitar, vocals)
Steve Vai (stunt guitar)
Bobby Martin (keyboards, saxophone, vocals)
Tommy Mars(keyboards, vocals)
Scott Thunes (bass)
Ed Mann(percussion)
Chad Wackerman (drums)
Vai started his music career in 1978 at the age of eighteen as a transcriptionistfor Frank Zappa,[2] and played in Zappa’s band from 1980 to 1983.[1]
Vai is great. His material can get a bit too weird for me but he’s going to knock this out of the park.
I posted this in another thread but I saw him earlier this year on the G3 tour with Satriani and Eric Johnson and even though Eric Johnson is my guy, Vai left the other two in the dust in terms of technical prowess. He’s a machine.
