As much as I like to make fun of UM, they are nothing without Jake.

Jake is definitley a big piece of their success. There was a time when he was one of the most interesting and tasteful players around. I dont care much for the arrogance of his playing anymore because i dont think he listens to, or respects, his peers playing, but I dont see them lasting long if he leaves. Sure they could play bars for 200 people, but the name value would be gone.

In hindsight, a nice break around the Similar Skin era would have probably helped them recharge without hurting them too bad. Probably wasnt a feasible option after covid.
Wasnt SS when they were selling out arenas/bigger venues?

from the 6 Iāve seen with Scotty I think the positives I always took away is that they are practicing together again and that they are actively listing to eachother during jams and theyāve been way more cohesive.
Heās far less expendable than Kris was. But why the Jake hiatus and who prompted it? The fact that he appears to be playing with Waldman surely makes it seem like heās not at home dealing with family stuff or any of the other speculative reasons for him being away from the band.
Maybe itās a positive situation?

Its all good. Sharing a hotel with Waldman just requires a 30+ day quarantine. Standard practice.

i canāt imagine there is any way that jake actually plays any of the three remaining WW dates ā and until he is back on stage with that band, i donāt think we can say that heās not at āhome dealing with family stuff or any of the other speculative reasonsā

I obviously donāt know much but Bayliss sounded genuine and maybe slightly concerned. I donāt think this is as ugly as some hope.

Just because some of us have moved on from the band and think they suck doesnt mean we wish harm on them as people.
Did i say that? Typically these days, i think most humans would find a little vicarious energy through juicy rumors like band breakups or smoking crack with Oingo Boingoās trumpeteer. Never once said anything about harm or whatever.
