Jake to miss 2/26 show

Somebody posted something to this effect in one of the facebook groups. Ridiculous take.

And if Kris was just put aside, i think he would’ve had an easier time finding a worthwhile job. It was mentioned here, and i was told by someone in the know, that he was a pain in the ass that made questionable decisions at times.

I think it just boils down to Jake and Kris still had that dog in them and everybody else is way more reserved & chilled out these days.

Farag golfs and smokes meats all day.
Joel has a toddler and travels with his wife.
Bayliss is a family man going to Cubs games and golfing.
Scotty is eating microdoses and preaching about anti-semitism (also selling drum trinkets online)
Stasik is busy doing whatever he can to not lose his hot-ass wife.

Kris was getting yakked up and yorking it on fans laptops.
Jake was apparently down to party with anybody who had a bottle.

Them days are over for most the boys.

gonna need AI to make a photo of Farag spinning on the tables with a couple pounds of brisket next to him.

We could probably toss him 40$ on Cameo to make that a reality.

If the band wants more money it would make more sense to drop one of your two managers vs a guitarist.

Management isn’t going to recommend that.

this is why in 5 years Umphreys is just gonna be Farag playing percussion along with a laptop playing prerecorded UM

like a shitty version of EOTO

EOTO is already the shitty version. Hard to get worse

My narrative/story about what happened is that keeping 6 musicians happy playing music together required a lot of compromises and they threaded the needle to manage it all for 20+ years because the lineup was so good but at the end of the day Bayliss and Joel wanted more stability in the operation and they’re happier now even if the music is less than it was

and the road to this current state was catalyzed by the decline in popularity/ticket sales and general recession of live music since 2020

what’s the good version of EOTO?

This feels like a good take on the situation. Honestly it’s pretty crazy they toured as much as they did and kept a static 6 person line up for 20 years. That is very difficult to do. Hard to find bands around that long with that many people that didn’t go through some changes over the years. Even if they end up on another upward trend at some point UM has passed their peak in popularity and is clearly closer to the end than the beginning. Given that, I’d image harmony and stability is very valuable to the members as they age further.
