They ditched a lot of that when Allen started behind the kit. He’s a great drummer but doesn’t have the range of jam styles that Sammy did. Shame. I used to shit all over 1.0 but it’s so much more varied in jam styles that it really sticks out above the rest of their career.

The problem with 1.0 is the quality of the SBDs. But yeah Sammy was a jazz drummer. Allen is just a robot. Although early Allen (07) seems to be a good mix of the 2 styles

yeah i never saw 1.0 but have listened a ton and knew of the change in playing post Sammy. It is very apparent listening to 1.0 shows how different the drumming and jamming really is.
And i don’t mind the quality of the tapes and boards from the time. the shows sound like a fucking party.
