Jamband tries to use social media to attract jamband fans, who’d have thunk it

Listen - y’all bat WAY THE FUCK outta your league.

I dgaf what it takes…. people who are into prog and fusion and jam need to get exposed to squeaky feet. Period.

We will always need jamband fans. More than prog and fusion fans, who we also want to attract, but if we become mainly a prog scene band, kiss improvising goodbye because the prog fans will largely turn their nose up at it.

Fair point. You certainly know that better than me.

I wasn’t trying to suggest y’all need more attention from one sect of listeners more than the other - just that everyone who your shit touches ought to check it out.

But yeah… jamband peeps prolly the main/crucial segment.

Good thing I had a dream that Trey showed up to one of your shows. Cuz my dreams sometimes come true.

as a huge prog nerd, I totally agree. Dream Theater can absolutely jam and do throw one in a set occassionally, but it is such a far cry from what a jamband does. Prog fans would hate 20min jams multiple times throughout a set.

With that being said, if SF ever decided to stop jamming (please god no), you guys would 100% have a great chance at gaining a solid prog audience. Excellent prog songs. You might even end up getting some prog nerds who love the album and then come to a show to realize youre actually more of a jamband. Which, who knows, maybe that could get them into the improv/jam aspect more, but majoritively likely not.

This isn’t fluff or simping. The balance of prog/jamming that SqFt has used is perfect for my auditory pleasure. SIYD. I feel like if they went full jam and did some cute blissful jam with 3 guitars, it’d sound as good as if they did some nasty grimy prog metal song.
