When we put out the next nameless//shapeless we really need to put live improv somewhere on the cover because a lot of people seem to not realize that’s what it is

lol our old manager we only worked with for a minute insisted we put “inspired by the improv gods of the 1970s” or some weird shit like that in our bios. We got rid of that in most places but clearly it has survived somewhere

@cshore - how do you make money from nugs.net? Is it the more plays, the more $$ you make? Ive always wondered how nugs.net pays bands.

Ummm I think so I mean personally I don’t even know how to login to the band’s bank account if that gives you any indication of how much of the business side I know

More of a Ben question. I think it is money per stream but beyond that not sure

Yep, it’s money per stream like most other streaming services, but with the addition of the extra money from actual purchases of shows.

I’d have to look at our contract to see how much it is per stream, but it’s not bad, at least nowhere near as bad as spotify/apple music.

edit:
Some people would prob frown at posting this to some random forum, but yolo idgaf:

  1. (a) Seventy percent (70%) of Gross Webcast Revenue; plus
  2. (b) Seventy percent (70%) of Gross Download Revenue; plus
  3. (c) Fifty percent (50%) of Gross CD Revenue; plus
  4. (d) Subscription Streaming Revenue of $0.0096 per stream (audio or audiovisual) for Artist Content via the nugs.net Subscription Streaming Service.

Honestly way better than I would have expected

Same. We tend to make a few hundred a quarter from nugs, fluctuating very clearly with the amount of shows we released. It’s not incredible money, but definitely does help support the band

I wonder how they measure what a “play” is. Can I spam songs to play or do I got to play it through?

I swear I remember the contract saying 40% through track length counts as a play, but I didn’t see it on re-read just now. Either way, I would assume it needs to be more than just starting the track, which means we’re at a bit of a disadvantage due to average track length.

Nugs could give $.018 per track and they’d still win out lol.

Guess I just need to make an 8 hour/10 song playlist to play in silence while I sleep.
