All Things Hair Bands

Whether you love ‘em, hate ‘em or love mocking them, here’s the thread for that. @flyfishmich mentioned about UM coming off more as synth and hair band. So why not have a thread about them? :joy:

Let’s give the thread some music!

Ratt was on the OK side of of that genre

I saw them in Germany in ‘87 and their live show was pure garbage. The sound was so bad you didn’t recognize the songs. They were so fucked up on stage that I don’t think they knew what planet they were on. Stephen Pearcy kept saying how great the hash was.

But I still love their studio albums. But they were hands down the worst live band I’ve ever seen

At the same said festival in Germany, Cinderella also played right before Ratt came on and absolutely killed it.

I’ve seen Cinderella open for Poison a few times, they didn’t sound bad for 2006.

Love me a good hair metal ballad.

Home Sweet Home opened the door in '85 but Poison made the hits.

Not the biggest fan of Skid Row but it’s hard to deny Sebastian Bach knocked this one out of the park. My early 20s girlfriend broke up with me using this song but this shit still bangs.

I saw Cinderella twice and they were great both times. They’re a better live band than their studio albums were.

I wasn’t big on the power ballads myself.

This is my favorite Skid Row track

Anthrax, incidentally made the best power ballad spoof ever back in ‘91. This shit’s hilarious

damn, my heartis broken. Don’t worry Pook, we’ll work through this together.

fucken love that song. I’d have to say, just like everybody else, I never gave Cinderella the respect they deserved. They crush, I can only imagine how good they were in the 80s.

Cinderella wasn’t afraid to jam a little onstage. Nothing crazy or lengthy but they did stretch the songs an extra minute or two. They also did a killer cover of Jumpin Jack Flash

keeping the genre alive.

Not that I hated power ballads. But I preferred the hard rockin’ tracks.

Home Sweet Home is a classic.

I’m proud to say that Cinderella, on the Long Cold Winter tour, was my 1st concert w/o being taken by a parent. It was at the La Crosse Center in the summer of ‘89, and it was also the 1st time I smoked grass.

I was very fortunate to have seen a bunch of stuff as a kid, mostly with my dad, which ranged from Hank Williams Jr, John Prine & John Hartford (stuff he loved)…to Ratt, Kiss & Quiet Riot (stuff I begged him to take me to). It’s funny how, in hindsight (JO), that I now am so much more grateful to have seen those 3 country/Blugrass/folk artists than the stuff I was crazy about at the time. Cinderella was def the beginning of my passion for attending concerts though. We also saw a ton of other country stuff, like Kenny Rogers, Alabama, John Denver, Oak Ridge Boys, etc…but I don’t hold those quite as high as the three I had originally mentioned…maybe John Denver.

:+1: :beers: :facepunch:

Dolmen was one of my favorite hair bands also.

My first real concert was Poison in 6th grade, 6th row tickets at the Tweeter Center in Tinley Park, IL. My buddy had to beg his mom the whole drive down not to show her tits, she eventually caved and kept the puppies secure throughout the show.

sounds like you had an epic first smoke / show

My favorite Skid Row album is ironically their least popular one - 1995’s Subhuman Race
