They are always good, you are seeing a band on a beach. Doesn’t get more fun than that. Holidaze was the best when I went a handful of times. I would recommend these destination events to anyone interested in going. I probably would be in Mexico right now if we didn’t decide to do Phish last weekend.
vibes are generally great. we are all on vacation at a beautiful all inclusive resort!
Honestly a lot of people had nightmare checkin situations waiting up to 5 hours for their rooms to be ready.
The event seems small, like 300 people or so maybe. But all people who love this band, so it has been a great crowd of people to watch the shows with.
The event people on site are kind of nightmares though. They have been making a lot of audibles which seems annoying for UM mgmt. They switched the main shows from the beach to this patio area by the pool. They put the poolside sets in an area where only resort VIPS are allowed to sit, so everyone is forced into the pool with a bunch of empty chairs surrounding us. DJ Airwolf got majorly snubbed. He has DJed here for late nights after Phish and Dead & Co. Totally went fine because it was a whole resort buyout and the audience vibed to his music. All the Mexican patrons at the clerb were very unhappy to be greeted with Lithuanian synth sounds from the 70s. They were shoving phones in his face to make requests, just super unhappy and rude. Moral got a little better after some Prince but he called his set after 20 mins. He has more late night sets tonight and tomorrow so we’ll see how that goes.
Event staff completely unplugged all of the cables to the sound equipment for some reason, so it took crew hours to reassemble that. Just making weird choices without communication it seems.
Its odd how the festival events are doubling as entertainment for the regular resort guests (although you need a wristband to see the shows proper).
Overall it is so sick to be here with my friends. So sweet to see all the band members and crew with alllll of their family. Bayliss’ son was complaining about being bored and his wife was like sorry paradise is not good enough lol.
Slacker was dope..other than eating shit on the flowrider been smooth sailing here, somehow got lucky at check in room was ready, ocean side balcony taboot. Have now witnessed 2 weddings in the park area by balcony. Glad we got the app as we can preorder breakfast room service during the night before.
Looks pretty awesome, I’m jealous of all attending, hope you all have a blast. Hard to have a bad time seeing friends and a band you love on the beach. Sucks the resort is making things difficult, UM has had to deal with BS out of their control at destination shows before. (Aka “The Fort”)
I have to laugh thinking about how some of the townspeople reacted to the entire concept, as if Satan himself was going to destroy their beloved fort (that has endured centuries of weather and war).
That FL run was fun as hell. Camping right outside venue and weird after party across the parking lot. Crazy drive from WI>FL and back. One of my favorite show memories from a travel standpoint.
