Hell yeah Billy Stings is sitting in?
Highly doubtful. I meant Ocean Billy
I heard he’s sitting in during the Cousin Eli after party
I got my sources bro
I would LOVE to be wrong
I fucking hate Ocean Billy. I’d never call it a banger. I feel like that’s a pretty polarizing song though. Love it or hate it.
Agree with the rest of your list though.
When it hits, it’s a HR cc:
Early on in my fandom, I hated ocean billy. Was burnt out in. Nowadays? I value a good billy
Fair enough. I’m not a big fan of the composed song either, but it does typically lead to some nice jams
Post show notes:
1st set started off a little janky imo. It seemed like they were not able to get in “sync.” Weird placement with concessions (I really liked the song but now it just seems to take forever), bullhead city, and black water.
They need to desperately hire a competent sound engineer. Couldn’t hear Joel, Jake was too loud at times and too quiet at times, Zwangs snare was overbearing at times.
Second set sounded so much better and was straight gas. Not a single dull moment until…..
Zonkey’d (crowd loved it).
Encore: very very pleasantly surprised. Attachments crushed and the segue back into Bridgless was butter.
Other notes: Dick to tit ratio was very shocking. I couldn’t believe how many women were there. Factors light rig was the shit and I thought he was the MVP on the night.
GET A COMPETENT SOUND GUY.
Yeah, we can’t go ![]()
Mix on the stream was pretty bad at times as well. I could barely hear Jake or Hartswick during Bullhead (not saying I wanted to necessarily hear Jen).
The show was f’n awesome. The jam into Haji went flat, but other than that, the boys crushed.
place was packed, felt sold out. Good job UM. Good job Chicago.
Highlights: Jen, Staircase and Attachments
I complained about this during the mish run but I feel like Stasik is really hidden in the mix now. I seem to remember always being able to pick out what he was playing really clearly and now it seems to be really muddy in 80% of the set, and I can only really pick it out if he’s playing something with a bunch of slaps or pops, or a couple really synthy effects.
Definitely less Stasik, I had to crank the bass in order to get some semblance of what he was playing. Echo the snare sentiment, love hearing the crack but on both drum& percussion setups alike the cymbals and congos, bongos along with the toms get kinda lost in the sauce. Sometimes I can hear Joel, sometimes ya can’t. Inconsistent but it seems the streams are often better HQ v the published show on nugs
bitches love staircase
Bath was also a highlight obviously. I agree stasik and Joel are low in the mix. Also Jake needs to chill on the cock rock peaks, but same as it ever was. Attachments seemed to be the highlight as they locked into a groove and didn’t force the peak.. anyway.. good to see the band in good form. I thought set 1 had a good flow. Nice way to set the tone. Zonkey track lit the place up. Just a really great time. Cheers
Glad to hear that! Just saw a video of Frasco and even looked packed for them
Trying to get my dad to go tonight
Opening with a standalone 20min mantis was ballsy and I thought they nailed it. First four songs were fantastic from my perspective
It’s pretty impressive a bunch of 50 yr olds are still playing with this ferocity for over 3 hours. Easily the longest 2 set UM show I have seen, thought they absolutely went above and beyond from an overall production standpoint.
