Talking with Joel, his new rig is what was causing the issues Thursday night
He had his normal maroon guitar in Des Moines on Thursday. Maybe the switch had something to do with the horrible sound from that night.
So you were literally right next to me, @ski-bUM and @GizaButler but you didn’t say hi?

Ftr - Mocca wasn’t cut, I just listened to most of s1 & it’s definitely played.
BLBC doesn’t disappoint, felt fleshed out for an opening jam > GITV is choice setlisting. Passing is always a treat to hear. The Linear jam is nice, it’s funny the first theme kinda fizzles out and they almost get a little.. a.. lost at sea for a second but they pull in the reigns for a solid segue > wmm
Good group playing right now!
Joel is teasing a melody from a 2011 jam throughout first half of BLBC. Can’t place it but pretty sure it was on either HOF or Umgold compilations. Maybe one of the red tapes? Will dig in later tonight if nobody else can place that
Edit; the only reasons i am making a note of it are 1. The original jam was awesome and we all need excuses to listen to 2011 stuff and 2. Joel seemed like he was making a point to play it a lot during a few different parts of the jam
This is a harder task than i originally thought. I keep listening to the full jams of my guesses. Fuck i wish i could place that keyboard line.
Got it! Robot world 2/18/11. Not as close of a match as i originally thought but it made me vibe similarly.
fucking love that jam
Passing was rough, even by the standards of the recent lackluster soundboard quality. Sounds like Jake may have forgot some of the lyrics, hard to tell. What a shame.
He def founded lyrics during the show and the soundcheck
Chitlins Con Carne teases towards the end of Divisions. Still need to finish listening but Bright Lights and Divisions stand out to me. Some dancier drumming caught my attention in Divisions.
I finally got around to this show today out of order, and its mellowness stood out in a good way after what was a pretty heavy SE run last week. This is easily the best Divisions jam in a decade or more. I love the slow minor progression that starts out and the way it gradually builds in intensity while also changing to a more traditional major-key mood. Then, the Similar Skin picks up right where it left off. Excellent 2nd set.
