I just scrolled back up and read that Kostelecky passed. That’s so awful. The Store has played host to many many fuzzy nights in my last 10 years. Kevin was such a nice guy. Always a pleasure to talk to. Saw BB play a random pop-up acoustic show on a Tuesday or Wednesday night a few years ago. Went there after many holiday shows. This fucking sucks.

Sweet Glory, didn’t mean to reply to you

If @kev347 can’t find much to say about this one… it’s gotta be pretty damn bad. Bummer. Norva or CLT could bring it. Getting very excited for my first 3.0 experience with the SE crew.

ALB

Vienna Bayliss solo sounds pretty neat with ALB to follow

Ah, 1348 unfinished, rare for them. Fun show, cool ideas, nice to see them trying new things. That s2 was kinda sweet

So Vienna was full?

Billy Joel?

Whole 2nd set ripped but the transition from natl anthem back to reso and end of n2f were misses.

I’m sad about BB’s homie from the store and sorry for bad mouthing him earlier. It sucks when your friends die

Sounds like Bayliss was drinking more than usual… feel the man. I get it.

Full song yes

I get pretty lucky with the shows I see. Which means I was due for one of these…

This show isn’t bad, but the focus just isn’t quite there the whole night. My guess given full context now is that it was because everyone was mourning their friend Kevin, so I won’t be too mean about it. But the 4 covers were certainly a bit excessive. Small Strides was actually a bit of a standout jam. it built to a natural uplifting peak on its first section, then Bayliss extended it by throwing in a fiery dancy riff just as it was about to die and the band went into another frenetically paced dance section. 1348’s peak was also intense and well executed. Other than those moments though, this is fairly skippable.

It was certainly interesting to finally get a Bayliss solo piano encore. I will say that they gave it enough context to work, and he did a really good job and clearly put some practice into it. Definitely wouldn’t mind this sort of thing on an occasional basis, as long as the full band finishes up afterward.

Well said. It was obviously an emotional show for them and I’ll leave my criticisms to myself.
