Am I the only one who enjoyed the first set?

I’m on space right now

The soundtrack set was way better in the room. I definitely hear complaints that a lot of it was similar tempo and feel and wish they had varied it up a bit more but I liked that they committed HARD to the bit and made what I thought were some pretty intense soundscapes. I do agree that space was the best one. People who keep saying they want more patient, ambient jams - here you go.

The rest of the night was just a lot of fun. I can’t believe Visions won. I can’t believe Nopener took down Attachments. CYOA is most fun when the crowd isn’t completely dumb

That has to be the most legitimately fleshed out SF2 they’ve done in at least 15 years. Banjo sitins on Phil’s and the very extended dreamy encore were fun as well.

There were two severe thunderstorms today that rolled through Nashville and caused extensive damage. The first one rolled through about 5 pm with 90 mph winds and knocked out power to my hotel for several hours. The second one was No Diablo > Hourglass deep in the 3rd set of UMBowl. I think I may need to see a doctor Monday to recover from that :frowning:

This is being considered to be tried in an international court.

I think my issue with streaming the 1st set, is i don’t think the visual experience they wanted to put out, was really compatible for anything other than being there in person. That said, if i was just listening to it-I’d think it was pretty cool. Space was the best by far. Puppet String and Ringo were tight, Nopener was straight gas, but Phil’s and Matt FN Menefee was some straight up heat. It was fun watching the band watch Menefee light the stage on fire with his banjo, and then he had the nerve to do it again during the encore. I need to look into this dude some more.

Shit… forgot the HOF BTL too

20 min encore ? Noice

N2 was freakin’ stellar. Nice to meet ya @Fraggle. Catch ya down the road @WhoDatVols.

tL;dr

Soundtrack set, truly amazing. I liked the DnB theme somewhere in the middle there and the magic part was cool. Heaven/hell theme was also well executed, could see it being lost on ya if you weren’t there. That being said, I think for a listen it’ll make a great time.

CYOA set was kickass. Happy to get a Visions, reminded me that I saw one at Scamp in '14, neat stuff. Ringo was a treat, believe it was unfinished. Nopener should be on the HoF, that was a heavy, yet almost a dance stew, really unique theme. Mullet over is a twangy one that’s always nice to hear, makes sense given the city it’s being held in. I was with Kris, thought they were playing all of Plunger, very Biscuits playing the middle>end of the tune.

Happy Birthday, Kris!! BtL has a great jam in it. SFII>Phil’s is hot gas, great stew and the comp of Phils on the return especially is really well executed. Trade offs between Jake, Menefee & BB to build back to the main riff, fun stuff. I dig the idea of finishing Tinkle’s & Bridgeless on n2. I understand they don’t like doing that too often, so nice to see 'em stepping out of the comfort zone.

I don’t post much these days, but came in here to say that UMBowl XI is prob my favorite for a whole host of reasons…

Easily the “best” CYOA set they have played in my ears…
