Understood. In my defense, I still like this band and may see more in some songs than others. But I will stand on the notion that there’s been much better material this year, Kris knocking rust off aside, than the last few years. And yes, I know that might not be saying much.
Maybe I’m taking the subjective factor too far. Thought I’d have my fluff in control while doing this.
My short list is (and yes 4 of them are from just 2 shows)
2/18 Plunger
2/18 Dump City
4/24 Kitchen (attendance bias I really love the attachments in this show though)
6/15 Ringo
6/15 3x
Just keep doing what youre doing and we can clean it up when summer tour is done. Or like Cryan said, just bold the tier 1s.
This thread every year always makes me realize how consistent UM can be in terms of improv, even if shows like the first month of winter tour happen to be very forgettable. Things really started to improve in March and I feel like they are still keeping the train rolling.
I personally think that it’s been a good year in all, and hopefully they finish the summer/ fall off hot. Looking at the schedule, I’m seeing maybe 2 one setters left.
While I really enjoyed the N2F and Draconian live in South Dakota, my most relistened to jam as of late in the first jam of Red Rocke Ringo. Streamed that set so heard it “live” but have probably played it a good two dozen or so times since then. It’s a solid jam and the second slot jam ain’t bad either.
I think the Bayliss riff in ringo jam 1 is one of his best of the year, but that jam never really goes anywhere beyond that which takes it out of JOTY for me.
I’m currently leaning 4/24 Attachments for current JOTY
