What is this effect Jake be rocking at 6:37 of Draconian? He busted it out in SD last night too. I love that

Sounds like octave up and some delay

Sick. I just bought a Canyon electro Harmonix pedal and am excited to play with it when I get home tonight. It definitely has that classic Jake steel drum effect sound ability

This Junk is cooking. Pony might be MVP of the whole tour. Dropping some tease or repeated baseline at 7:00

If this show doesn’t get your wappy sprayberry a lil chubbed, it’s probably time for goose tour

Friends. Colleagues. Umphreaks from across the great divide. Come. Gather around. Let me share with you the tale of a band and a man named Robbie fucking Williams

I have sobered up, slept, eaten, and pooped it all out. I’ve digested this show in full and I am confidently going to declare this my favorite show attended in 113 UM shows since 2002. The is a subjective ranking.

Objectively (sort of) I am willing to place it firmly and unquestionably in my top 5 shows attended, musically. It is up there with 6/7/07, 5/23/08, and probably climbs above 5/27/11, 9/14/12, 3/12/14, 8/3/19, & 3/16/24.

It’s really that good. The setlist has very few flaws. Maybe zero. Big set closers in Mantis and Junk. A rarity cover for the encore. First song jam. Fun standard songs Make it Right, WWS, and Den

Varried, plentiful, and enjoyable.jamming in Mantis, DBK, Pig, Hiccup, Conduit. Red Tape, JaJunk. And a serious JOTY candidate in Draconian push this show into the stratosphere.

Fluffy? You decide

I’m slowly digesting this show and listening to the Draconian now (how long has it been since we’ve had a monster Draconian? Feels like years now) but I will say it yet again…

Do not sleep on this Hiccup. I’ve already listened to it a few times and this jam hits so good. Classic UM soaring and they milk it too, to some it might get a bit repetitive but I like how they are in no rush to pivot to something else. Definitely on my short list of '24 high replay value jams.

Edit: Nah this Draconian doesn’t quite hit for me, I like what they’re doing for a while and Jake is doing a cool and unique harmonizer/octave thing but it sounds so weird and forced when they hit that standard chord progression out of nowhere, and then they go back to it later. Yes to the bouncebacks, just didn’t like the B section here.

The return to the end of Draco almost always feels forced to me. Not crazy about it

I get you but in this case it’s not so much that which I don’t mind, it’s like the B section of the bounceback is just a real meh progression, which could work if that was the start of the jam or it was a lyrical stew, but in this case it’s jarring.

Better than Ashland? I think Ashland doesn’t hold a candle to this one, but why would anyone waste time listening to find out? that’s some smooth brained shit, Cryan

This show has 8 jams. Ashland had 5, maybe? KaBump and Plunger are good, but this Hiccup, Red Tape, and Draconian are nothing to scoff at either. Plus we have DBK (maybe my favorite jam of the night), Pig, and Junk all with high quality improv and the 2 ā€˜worst jams’ of the show are Conduit and Mantis and I’d take either of those to the Ashland Domino (big meh).

Tahoe 24 > Ashland 14

I was mainly talking about scamp show. But thank you, i always wanted to have smooth brained shits

just drink coffee and eat taco bell. smooth shits in less than an hour

I can no longer edit the setlist but it should go:

DBK > Pig → DBK, Hiccup → Mantis

Conduit → Red Tape$, WWS > Draconian → Den, JaJunk

$ Third Stone from the Sun jam
