You can’t be to critical of a NYE show, they are always like this never blown away but solid moments here and there. Cover choices were fun and first night more then made up for it imo.
well aware. i had a blast but objectively it was bad. wouldnt change a thing on my end but comically bad moments, but also dump and fir wee fucking awesome from an impov perspective
I thought the weirdest thing was glory, peeps into the new year. Would prefer one big jam going into the new year like they always do. Not sure why they did that? Other then that thought song selection was solid all weekend and night one was awesome.
Glory to start a set (I think?) felt so weird and out of place. Nothing really had any flow it felt like. EG had a solid jam shortly after tho
I have underlying insecurities going on (I lost so much god damn money on the CFB tonight), so I just need to sober up and reassess tomorrow. You didnt ask for that but there’s my brain dump
Nugs has this shit up already.
I’m hoping I misheard, but did I hear them drop the n-word during 40’s?
I had the same thought at Sacred Rose. It sounds like Jake says it in the 2nd verse, I think.
Fucking Bayliss
Yeah… that was kinda fucked up. But this was a guy who used to openly make Michael Jackson pedo jokes.
Happy New Year, everyone!
Leading off with: Brendan is terrible. Was not a proud moment having my girlfriend at the show hearing that. Then to double back and say “it’s 2023, we can say shit, right?” made things 10x worse. I’m not about to cancel the band over a drunken comment, but pretty messed up. Stasik was not having it either.
Dump was fire as others have said. Possibly better than anything from 12/30. They took the middle section much slower than they have been for the last decade and it led to a groovy jam with a really nice peaking last section. I need to relisten to Escape Goat because it seemed good but it was a long night. Other than that, not much notable happening in the improv department. They tried to go deep on Attachments but Jake was having some extended difficulties with his rig (likely due to confetti landing on it? lol) that started right at the beginning of the Attachments jam and lasted all the way through Day Nurse (to the point they did an improv drum solo to fix things). Too bad.
The Floor had an All In Time ending jam. It’s as odd as it sounds.
WBG > Uncommon > Red Tape is a beautifully odd trio of songs to hear at 11 pm on NYE, but you won’t hear any complaints from me there. Enjoyed having less covers this year.
Nobody gonna mention or note the Mulches jam at the end of Fir?
Oh right, that was a weird one. I need to relisten to that to see just how Mulche’s-y it was. It clearly took the same basic approach but in a different key. Ended up being a lot of fun.
It’s Mulches ending jam
What did Bayliss say that was so cringe?
I was there. Didn’t hear whatever it is he said. When did he say it? I want to listen to it and judge harshly.
I didn’t catch it in the moment either. 9:25 of Fenced In on Nugs. Holy yikes
Yeah not a great look for BB
Bayliss thinks to himself, and says fuck it. Wine not?
The worst thing of all is the fact that Bayliss actually thought anyone in the crowd would be turned on by his vocal performance on that cover to the point where they’d want to get frisky. Completely butchered that song lol
